Sepultura announced the end of the band almost a year ago - but not without making a worthy exit. As of April, the groove metal institution has been on an extensive farewell tour, which is set to continue next year. But that's not all. Sepultura is also celebrating its 40th anniversary. The band has therefore decided to record 40 songs in 40 different cities and then release them in the form of a live album.

The best time of life

At the concert in Berlin, Andreas Kisser was asked by Music Interview Corner how he and the rest of the band felt about their farewell tour. "It feels great. We've been planning this for the last two years. It's a celebration of Sepultura's 40th anniversary. It's great to see the fans - old school fans and those who are seeing Sepultura for the first time. It's very emotional and we're having the time of our lives. The tour is fantastic," answers the guitarist, who has been a permanent member of the line-up since 1987.He also has more good news for his fans: "We will continue to extend the tour until 2026. We are not in a hurry. We still have many goals ahead of us." The Brazilians have certainly traveled a lot over the decades, but: "There are some places we have never been before. That's why we want to try to achieve that before we stop." The final concert is scheduled to take place in São Paulo in 2026.energy

Kisser also went into more detail about the planned live album: "We've been recording every show since the tour began. Of course we have a set list that we change on a few nights. That allows us to build songs around the recording and it's going great. Today's technology has allowed us to record every night. I listen to some of the shows and the energy is there. It's a fantastic sound." That's exciting because Sepultura "never had a real live album ." Kisser has not yet said when the album can be expected.
