CLOWN: "SLIPKNOT Has A New Album"
The prospect of a new Slipknot album these days is genuinely pretty exciting. It'll be the first Slipknot album not to be on Roadrunner, meaning there's no label pressure to do this or that, and it'll be the first Slipknot music ever to feature new drum destroyer Eloy Casagrande.
According to percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan in an interview with Knotfest, there is a new Slipknot record in the works. Based on what Clown said, it seems the record is only in the demo stages and not actually fleshed out, as he notes they're "gonna start [working on it] at some point."
"2025 I'm going to work on 'No Complaining'," said Clown. "Just not going to do it anymore. I realized my expectations are never going to be met. So I need to give myself a break. It's probably the last part of ego I need to work on. That way I can just float. Nothing will bother me. I can just work on positive potential. We got a new album. We're gonna start at some point. I just want to roll into that with an energy like it's all starting again. That's how I want to approach it."
Clown also notes that Slipknot's recent 25th anniversary tour inspired the band to possibly start writing in a rehearsal space, as they did for their 1999 self-titled debut album. "If we got our room and our shit's going, someone's gonna pop, everybody's gonna join in. And if we go, 'Oh, that's good,' that fucker will be done by the end of the night and then massaged over a month. And that's the best way to write fucking Slipknot music."
It's worth noting that Slipknot announced a new single called "Long May You Die" back in May 2024, shortly after Casagrande joined the band. That single has not been released, so who knows – maybe we'll get that this year? Or maybe we'll finally get to hear Look Outside Your Window. Basically we're just waiting on Slipknot to release anything they've talked about at this point.
