We've been talking about a new Anthrax record for literal years at this point, but it's happening in 2025 for real this time! No seriously, I know we've said that before, but it's actually coming out. According to Anthrax bassist Frank Bello in an interview American Musical Supply, the new record is out either this September or October alongside some pretty major touring plans.

"We have a new Anthrax record [coming out]. And it's been about eight years. It's been a while. So, we have a new Anthrax record. This bass will be shown everywhere we go. We're gonna start touring," said Bello in the interview. "The record's supposed to come out September, October. So big touring plans.

"If you know Anthrax, you know what we do — we stay on the road for quite a while. There's some very big shows being planned right now, which I can't talk about, but I'm very psyched. So 2025 is the year. And I'm glad that we have this [new Spector bass] ready in the chambers, because this bass is gonna go a long way, and I just can't wait — I can't wait, 'cause I know what I have on stage. I'm very psyched about it."

The new Anthrax record will be the band's first since For All Kings in 2016. Personally, I'm hoping for something a little heavier in the vein of Worship Music than For All Kings – the latter was certainly solid with plenty of hooks, but aggressive and in-your-face Anthrax trumps all. Dudes can bring the crunchy, unavoidable-headbang groove like no other. On the new material, Anthrax rhythm guitarist and lyricist Scott Ian said in a 2024 interview with Guitar World it's plenty crushing.

"I don't think we've ever gone into a record saying, 'We really need to top the last one,' because if you did that, you're self-fulfilling a failure. But I'm definitely loving this record. There are crushing riffs and great, hooky choruses. Even some of the thrashiest songs have great choruses. We're always looking for the hook, and I think we've accomplished that."
